The Family residence is located in the laid back suburb of Shelly Beach in the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal. The family had out grown the existing house so they needed to expand the property as well as to give it a modernized aesthetic. As the house is located near the beach, we opted for a tropical form of architectural response, where we have a introduced free flowing special configuration with operable shutters and screen in the new living area position for those hot summer afternoons. The living opens up to the east to capitalise on the sea views, and we have introduced some greenery in the upper balcony area so accentuate the conceptual approach.
